Where's the beef?

I was always careful as a child.  But one day, I cut myself.  I went to the school nurse.

"Wow," she remarked, "looks like you lost a big piece of meat."

"Yes, Ma'am," I agreed.

"Well, where do you think that piece of meat is right now?"

I shrugged.  I really wasn't sure.

She went on, "Now don't you think you ought to go find that piece of
meat?"

I had to agree that it might, indeed, be an attractive nuisance for a small
child.  How careless of me to run straight to the nurse.  I went back
to the room and searched for half an hour.  I couldn't find the meat anywhere.  Finally, I found a secretary who gave me a Band-Aid.

The tough part of getting older is that there isn't always someone looking
out for you.
